Position Summary

Speedgrip is seeking experienced Precision Grinders to set up and operate grinding equipment used to finish close-tolerance workholding components. Opportunities may include internal diameter, outside diameter, surface, rotary, or between-centers grinding. This position requires patience, precision, and the ability to consistently produce extremely accurate dimensions, geometry, and surface finishes.

Key Responsibilities

·        Set up and operate ID, OD, surface, rotary, or between-centers grinding machines.

·        Read and interpret engineering drawings, job instructions, and inspection requirements.

·        Select, install, dress, and balance grinding wheels.

·        Establish appropriate grinding parameters, feeds, speeds, and spark-out cycles.

·        Grind hardened-steel components to close dimensional and geometric tolerances.

·        Achieve required surface finishes, roundness, concentricity, straightness, and size.

·        Perform first-piece and in-process inspections.

·        Use micrometers, bore gauges, air gauges, indicators, and other precision instruments.

·        Monitor wheel condition, machine performance, heat, and part quality.

·        Troubleshoot taper, chatter, burn, finish, size, and geometry problems.

·        Complete required production and quality documentation.

·        Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain a clean, safe work area.

·        Work with engineering and quality personnel to improve grinding processes.

Qualifications

·        Previous precision grinding or closely related machining experience preferred.

·        Experience with ID, OD, surface, rotary, or between-centers grinding is highly desirable.

·        Ability to read engineering drawings and understand GD&T.

·        Proficiency with precision measurement and inspection equipment.

·        Knowledge of grinding wheels, dressing practices, coolants, and grinding fundamentals.

·        Experience working with hardened alloy steels is beneficial.

·        Strong attention to detail, patience, and mechanical problem-solving skills.

·        Ability to work independently while maintaining production and quality standards.

·        Dependable attendance and commitment to workplace safety.
