Position Summary

Speedgrip is seeking a skilled Manual Machinist to produce, modify, and repair precision components using manual lathes, mills, and related equipment. This position is ideal for an experienced machinist who understands the fundamentals of machining and can independently manufacture parts from detailed drawings. Many assignments involve one-of-a-kind components, repair work, prototypes, or small production quantities requiring careful planning and strong manual machining skills.

Key Responsibilities

·        Set up and operate manual lathes, mills, drill presses, and related machine tools.

·        Manufacture parts from engineering drawings, sketches, samples, or verbal instructions.

·        Determine appropriate machining sequences, tooling, speeds, feeds, and setups.

·        Perform turning, facing, boring, threading, drilling, tapping, and milling operations.

·        Inspect completed work using precision measuring instruments.

·        Hold close tolerances and achieve specified surface finishes.

·        Modify, repair, and rework existing components when required.

·        Troubleshoot setup, tooling, and dimensional issues.

·        Assist with prototypes and low-volume production work.

·        Maintain machines, tools, and work areas in a clean and safe condition.

·        Accurately complete production and inspection documentation.

·        Work closely with engineering, assembly, quality, and production personnel.

Qualifications

·        Previous manual machining experience required.

·        Strong experience with manual lathes and mills.

·        Ability to independently plan and complete machining operations.

·        Ability to read detailed engineering drawings and understand tolerances.

·        Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, indicators, bore gauges, and other measuring tools.

·        Experience machining alloy steels and hardened components is beneficial.

·        Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.

·        Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.

·        Dependable attendance and ability to work as part of a manufacturing team.
