Position Summary

We are looking for a CNC Lathe Setup / Operator that's motivated, has good judgment, and is willing to learn. You will be responsible for the setup and turning of complex steel parts. Programming is a plus but not necessary to have Prior experience with G-Code programming language. You should have the ability to use measurement tools like calipers and micrometers and good math skills are a must. You must have the ability to read mechanical drawings and job routers to determine the proper machining process, including the tooling and workholding needed. The ideal candidate should have a basic knowledge of machine shop practices and be willing to work in a team environment. Okuma, Mori & Haas lathe programming experience is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

·        Set up and operate CNC lathes, machining centers, or multi-tasking machines.

·        Read and interpret engineering drawings, setup instructions, and job travelers.

·        Install and accurately set cutting tools, fixtures, jaws, and workholding components.

·        Make approved program and offset adjustments to maintain specifications.

·        Perform first-piece, in-process, and final dimensional inspections.

·        Use micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, indicators, and other precision instruments.

·        Monitor tool wear, surface finish, machine performance, and part quality.

·        Troubleshoot machining, tooling, setup, and dimensional problems.

·        Complete required production and quality documentation.

·        Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area.

·        Perform routine machine maintenance and report equipment concerns.

·        Work with programming, engineering, and quality personnel to improve processes.

·        Meet production expectations without compromising safety or quality.

Qualifications

·        Previous CNC machining and setup experience.

·        Ability to read detailed manufacturing drawings and understand GD&T.

·        Proficiency with precision inspection instruments.

·        Understanding of cutting tools, speeds, feeds, offsets, and tool wear.

·        Experience machining hardened steels and close-tolerance components is beneficial.

·        Experience with CNC turning, milling, or mill-turn equipment is preferred.

·        Ability to work independently and solve machining problems.

·        Strong attendance, dependability, and attention to detail.
